Richard M. Sherman's 90th Birthday Celebration!

Our friend #RichardMSherman was honored this past Saturday July 21st by The City Of Beverly Hills for his 60 plus year career of writing some of the most magical, funny and poignant songs ever to be heard in theaters and while doing most of that writing while living in Beverly Hills. The director of the entire show Bruce Kimmel put together one show for the history books.

Everyone came out to celebrate Richard's 90th birthday including composers John Debney, Charles Fox, Edwin Wendler, Richard's agent #RichardKraft and many more. Actor Johnny Whitaker who played Tom Sawyer in the 1973 film of the same name sang a heartfelt rendition of "If'n I Was God" from the film that truly made us reach for our tissues. Actress and singer Keala Settle also leant her vocal talents with two songs from the Sherman Brother songbook. #Grammy winner Melissa Manchester sang #WaltDisney's favorite song by the talented duo, "Feed The Birds" from Mary Poppins. Many more wonderful songs were sang from a variety of films they wrote tunes for by some truly talented singers.

Richard came out at the very end and thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart. He then was presented with the highest honor, a key to the city of Beverly Hills by the major. The evening ended with everyone singing Happy Birthday to the birthday boy.
