Western Collection: 25 Cowboy Classics (CD)
Gene Autry is acknowledged to be the founding father and leading light of what eventually became a veritable legion of Singing Cowboys, and is widely acclaimed as the recording artist most directly responsible for broadening the definition of the "Hillbilly" genre into not merely Country but "Country & Western" music. Gene Autry’s fans have long heard him sing these tunes on his Melody Ranch Radio Show and his motion pictures as well as in the many episodes of The Gene Autry Show on television; but, until now have not been able to have these classic songs on one compilations. This package will appeal to devotee’s of the Western music genre, as well as fans of Gene Autry’s music. Many of these master recordings have not appeared on any previous Gene Autry Varese collection. The masters used for this package are from Gene Autry's personal archives and have been fully restored and digitally re-mastered. The booklet features detailed liner notes by award winning writer O. J. Sikes, with an introduction by Country Music DJ Hall of Fame disc-jockey Johnny Western.
